"Hanging Out" 6in x 6in oil

These two risk-taking cherries decided to leap out of the cup and hang on the edge.   I think they are just showoffs.    No one was hurt during the painting of these cherries.

"Cherries playing Hide and Seek" 6in x 6in oil

After bringing these cherries home from the grocery they jumped out of the bag and started playing hide and seek.  Rowdy bunch of cherries!

"Cheers to Champagne Grapes". 6 in x 6 in. oil on panel

These tiny little grapes are so sweet!   But alas, champagne is not made from these grapes.   But I couldn't resist putting in a glass of champagne.   And the red ribbon goes along with the festivities!

"Blue block" 6in x 6in oil on panel

This little blue block was so happy to be in the painting!   He is now with all his other block friends and telling them of his adventure and how he got to hang out with his big headed new friends.    He is famous in his hood.

"Plumcots in a teacup" 6in x 6in oil on panel

I feel rusty every time I paint.... the solution is to paint more!!   I have painted 3 this week and I pat my self on the back and say good for you.   Then I go about my day and forget to post!   I started with the plummets, thought they looked splendid in a yellow cup, but it needed more color.   I think the cerulean blue sets everything off nicely.

"Primary Present". 6in x 6in. Oil

I really need to paint more often and get back into painting daily so that I don't lose my skills!  Thought I would try using primary colors to start.   I used Quinacridone Red, Chinese Red, Thalo blue and Cadmium yellow light plus Titanium White.

"Minature Plums". 6in x 6in Oil

While at Trader Joe's I spotted these miniature plums and just couldn't resist using them in a painting before I ate them all.   They are just about two times larger than cherries.  And delicious!

All the cherries in the basket are leaving home and their family came to say good bye for the last time.   They hired a vocalist to send them off with song.

"Pals" 14in x 11in Oil

These two Pals wanted me to paint a portrait of them and I said "I could with one condition, they had to sit still and not giggle!"  And to my surprise they were perfectly behaved!  This is larger than I usually paint but they wanted to be on a larger canvas, a 14 x 11.   They look so quiet and innocent but are actually very demanding!

"Family Gathering" 8" x 8". oil

The family is gathering for another celebration.   There is Grandma, the matriarch with her daughter, son in-law and her two grandchildren.  Then there is crazy cousin Eddie who is just in from the Himalayan mountains.  He loves pink.   Now who was supposed to bring the green bean casserole?

"Red Ball cap" 12in x 12in oil on linen

While the model was posing I thought she needed a red ball cap, so I painted one on.   If life were only that easy.   I painted this on a Senso panel that has a clear gesso coating so the linen shows.   The only think I don't like about it is that the linen texture is not fine, but rather coarse.     I like to have the drawing show some and this panel is good for that.

"Cherie's Overlook" 6in x 6in. Oil

Cherie struggled to reach the top of the cup handle so she could see how many of her friends were trapped in the bowl.   Now how was she going to help them escape and how was she going to get down without leaving cherry juice.

Exploring New Territory. 8in x 8in oil

This past year was not much of a painting year for me.   So as a result I am very rusty and out of practice! Trying to do little paintings again and thought I would start with something I like to paint, cherries.  They are such happy little things and are so excited to be out of captivity and exploring the neighborhood.

Thank you for your interest in my work.

"Christmas Bouquet". 12" x 12" oil

A very good friend gave me the gift of flowers delivered to me for three months!
What a wonderful treat!    So I decided to paint them and here is the first with all it's Christmas colors.

I am a little rusty because I have not painted very much this year.    A lot of time was available but I chose to do other things.  The main thing is that I am happy and healthy.

I took this picture with my phone, usually I use my digital Canon but I have not been able to locate my camera for 9 months!!    I have looked everywhere, probably an equivalent of 2 days.   It must have dissolved into dust and I have vacuumed it up.  I am going to forget about it and maybe it will turn up.

Christmas was solitary for me, streamed lots of movies, cooked and baked.
I hope all of you had a good holiday and that you have a nice New Year to come.

"Out having fun" 6in x 6in oil

To me the cherries on the cloth look like they are having a party and are pretty tipsy!   I cannot figure out why I am not painting much during this pandemic.  All I know is that I am glad I painted today.

"Fresh Tomatoes" 8" x 16". oil

The first thing I noticed about these tomatoes at the grocery was how beautiful they were!   The check out person noticed that they came to Kentucky all the way from British Columbia Canada.     I painted this a couple of weeks ago and waited for it to be dry so I could put a re-touch varnish on it so the color would look vibrant.

"At Wits' End" 6" x 6" Oil

Missy Blue was at her wits' end with all her kids running around in the house, so she went to the grocery to buy some cherries and thought to herself.... this would make a nice hat!  While riding home she felt so much calmer... and chic!  Even though the stem stuck out of the sun roof.

Maybe it is me going a little bit crazy!   And it is starting to feel normal, which is the scary part!
