"Two roses" 8in x 8in oil

Thought I would experiment with this painting.   I made the focal point the strongest color and the rest in muted opposite tones.

"Roses and Ribbon 3" 8" x 8" oil

I feel that the roses came out pretty well in this painting.    They are in a silver mint julep cup and almost everyone here in Louisville Ky has one of these.   Mine came from my Dad and his initials are engraved on the cup.    I added a woven copper ribbon in the composition... it needed somehting...

"Red roses with a Copper Ribbon" 8" x 8" oil

As long as the roses last I feel I must paint them.   Here they are  with a copper mesh ribbon.  I painted it on a larger canvas which gave me more freedom of movement using larger brushes.

"Roses in a Julep" 6" x 6" oil

Finally had time to get in a daily today.  One of my students left these roses for me to paint so I gave it a try today.   Roses in a Mint Julep cup is a classic image here in the city that has the Derby.

"Three red roses with buds" 6" x 6" oil

I went to store to get Tulips but they did not have any so I got this cute little rose plant instead.  The day has just not gone as I had planned.   Then I upgraded to a new version of Mac and everything in iPhoto is different!!   Kinda frustrating!    Everything is taking longer to get done today.   So I am going with the flow.......

Roses & copper 6"x6"

Yesterday I painted this hammered copper cup and big rose.   I was not happy with it so today I decided to add to it to make it more interesting.    I am not great with roses but I think it might be my latest new challenge.

Dried rosebuds in green 6"x6" oil

Sold
I just had to paint this twice.   I thought green brought out the rosy color of the buds.

"Bloomin Roses" 6"x6" oil on canvas

Sold
The roses were out from yesterday's set up and I thought "why not do another one".   This time I picked a light blue background and wanted to show the stems in water.  I love how they are refracted.

"Rosy future" 6"x6" oil on canvas

Sold
I went to the grocery on Monday to get food before the snow came and as I passed by the flowers I noticed these "Garden Roses" (obvious name) and they were so beautiful I thought I could try and paint them.  Brought them home and put them in the refrigerator.   I was thinking that I was really smart in doing so until I saw them this morning and realized that not only did I forget they were in there I also noticed that I did not put them in water.   Fortunately they were in good condition.  I think I recorded too much information on them but they were fun.

Small still life, "Upside down Rose" Claudia Hammer

Sold

Small still life, "Upside down rose"   6 in x 6 in, oil on gesso board.  Thought I'd try doing this rose again, even though it was pretty wilted.  The one in the bowl was even more wilted so I placed it upside down.    Several of you have told me that  on the last two postings that the type is coming out over top of the picture.   While other people who subscribe to my blog are not having a problem what so ever.   I don't know what the trouble is.   If anyone knows what the problem is please let me know.   I would like to fix it.
