"Blue Shoes" 14in x 11 in Oil on linen

The model got into this pose and at first I was thinking that she was holding so much tension.  After looking through a viewfinder I noticed that the pose was so dynamic!    Love the position of the legs and arms so I made it all about that.   In the three hours that she posed, I sketched it in two times too large, third time was the charm.   I had to realize that the center of the canvas was the hem of her skirt, then it worked out.

"Reading" 14" x 11" oil

There was a lamp on the table that glowed onto the book and table surface which in turn lit up her face.  I put a light behind her to make her hair profile stand out because what I like best about this is the face and hair shape.

"Little Red dress" 18in x 14 in oil

What were we thinking?   We had three lights sources on our model today.  It was an overcast day so the studio was just a little dark.   I turned on one track light overhead, then there was north light coming in on that same side then we turned on a soft 60 watt light for a reflected light on the darker side.  We have 5 people around one model so there is not much wiggle room.

Green Bikini 11" x 14" oil

Trying something different in this painting and I like how it turned out.   I am trying hard not to blend the colors together and since I often like the block in with the drawing marks better than the finished painting it made sense to me to leave some of the marks in.  There you have it!

Orange bandanna 14" x 18" oil

Some of you might remember one like this that I painted a while back, almost a year ago.  I liked the pose so much I had the model get into it again.   There are differences of course and I think I like this one better.

Sun dress & long hair 11"x14" oil

I am not sure how successful this one is but here it is anyway.   The part (no pun intended) I think is the most successful is the hair.

Red Bandana 12"x16" oil on canvas

I love the way the cool light from the north windows collided with the warm light from a lamp.   The play of warm and cool were really fun to play with.
