"Hamilton Beach Mixer" 18" x 18" oil on wood

This is a larger piece, 18" x 18" painted on wood with 1.5 " painted sides.   After painting this mixer realistically I was not satisfied with it so I decided to make a bold leap and put some interesting brush work and knife work on it.   It was very scary at first and then I really got into it!

This is another gallery piece that I painted today.  I try to keep these alla prima, painting them in one sitting so it retains it's freshness and plus I have really grown to love painting wet into wet.

I was not able to paint today but I thought I would take this opportunity to show one of my larger works.  This recently won an honorable mention in a show here in Louisville.   This is my Mother's mixer from the 1950's and still the mixer I use today.   It is a General Electric with three blades.
