Tell maintenance we lost one 6"x6" oil on panel

Sold
The young leaf fell from her perch and landed on the cool blue surface.  While looking around and pondering what to do next she spotted her reflection on the shiny surface and thought she looked different, more compact.  Was this a cruel joke?

I am trying to see everything but not paint everything I see.  My motto of late.

We're free at last! 6"x6" oil on panel

Sold
Gettin into the grove now.  I think this is the first time I have painted these particular cherries, ok, yes I painted them yesterday, THAT was the first time.  They are cute little pink and yellow things.  Sort of like peaches but with out the fuzz, but more translucent, and smaller, with longer stems and taste different... ok, not like peaches.  I had better quit now.

One cup of cherries 6"x6" oil on board

Sold
Getting back into my daily routine had me a little worried so I thought painting something that I liked would help.   My good friend sent me on my way yesterday loaded with these cherries, some veggies and a sandwich to nibble on during my 10 hour drive back home from my vacation.   When I was eating the cherries I thought they looked so pretty that maybe I should save them to paint.  Ta Da!

Day five 11"x14" oil on canvas

This was the last painting on the last day of Zhaoming Wu's workshop in Austin TX.  I had to leave an hour early so I could only paint on it for a couple of hours, but I think it was a pretty good start.  I thought he was a great teacher and I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop.   Hopefully I can retain the information I received.  Everyone attending the workshop did such a great job.   I thought we all painted well together.

Day four, Zhaoming Wu Workshop 11"x14" oil on canvas

Day four of the Zhaoming Wu workshop and here again you can see the focal point.  We painted the model all day which amounted to a six hour pose and if you take out the 5 minute breaks it is 5.5 hours.  My concentration was getting a likeness, proportion and color value with some artist license here and there.

Day three, Zhaoming Wu Workshop 14" x 18" oil

Sold
Here you can see the focal point, which is the head neck and shoulder with everything else in softer focus and darker value.  This was the painting that I forgot to photograph yesterday,  it was Day two in the Zhaoming Wu workshop in Austin TX.

This is day three, today, and as you can see it is a head study.   I am learning a lot but it is going to take time to assimilate it into my work.   Tomorrow I will try to do better!

Jessica 12"x16" oil on canvas

Blogger was down yesterday and even this morning so I could not post.   I posted the painting I did yesterday on my other sites, Fresh Paint and Daily Painter Originals.  Blogger seems to be back and all is well with the world.  I dreamed all night about not being able to get on blogger and what I could do about it.  Needless to say it was a fitful night because in the end I could not do anything.

Iris on grey 5"x7" oil on masonite

Don't know why I had a hard time sitting still to paint this one.  I kept thinking of everything else I could be doing.   Maybe it is because it is a nice day and yard maintenance is calling.
I thought the grey/blue background would bring out the color in the iris.

Here's to another year 6"x6" oil on board

I know!   you are thinking "more champagne!?"  no, it is the same champagne from yesterday I just had to paint it again.   But you know I had to drink this glass or it would go bad and we wouldn't want that.   The bottle I used yesterday was empty, I saved it from New Years thinking it would come in handy some day and that was yesterday!  So this bottle is the one I poured in yesterday's glass.  This is way too complicated for me!

April 5, 2009 was the day that I started this discipline of daily painting.  Here it is two years already!  I have really learned a lot in two years and am still learning every day.   I have even learned what not to do.   But just as life the painting keeps evolving and changing  and I along with it.  So here is a toast to all of you for viewing my art and watching the evolution!   Cheers!  Thank you for your support and encouragement!  Clink!

Snug as a bug 6"x6" oil on board

Sold
First I want to thank all of you who came out to my booth this past weekend at the Cherokee Art Fair and a special thanks to those who bought my art.  I really appreciate your support.  It was a very good weekend and was thankful that the weather cooperated.  Yesterday was very hectic with teaching and other obligations.

I could not resist doing another painting of the little red vw bug against this green silk.  My favorite part is the red reflection of the car on the green shadow.

Cherokee Triangle art fair

Here is Cari a wonderful friend who helped me today in my first art fair booth which is at the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair in Louisville, KY. Thanks to all of of you who came out today!  We have had rain falling here for three or four weeks and today was a stellar day, sunny and warm.  Tomorrow it is supposed to rain again!   I hope some of you in the Louisville KY area come out to the fair because it has some of the best artist in this country.  I personally don't think it will rain all day tomorrow.  You know me, ever hopeful!

I'm being followed! 6"x6" oil on board

The little green car has been in my possession for as long as I can remember.   It is a 1956 Triumph TR-3 Tootsie Toy and a little worse for wear but the wheels still go.  The Red car is a modern VW Bug and it's wheels go too and right now they are chasing one another through the fabric hills.
