"Bicycle III" 6x6 in oil painting

This is an experiment in color.  Continuing my bicycle series which as it turns out is a humbling experience.  I am not sure this is working but I am posting my efforts anyway.  The opposite color of cad yellow is ultramarine violet.  Oh well, I will try again tomorrow.    Thank you for following my art.

Bicycle II 6x6 in oil

The shadows that the bicycle makes just fascinates me.   Because it is next to impossible to get this view point while being at my easel, I have been using photos of the bicycle in my studio then putting the computer next to my easel and viewing the photo from the screen.

"My Bicycle" 6x6 in oil

This bicycle has carried me all over Chicago and even into one pothole up there and is now liking its home in Louisville Ky.   I have dusted it off and getting it ready for transport this season.   I have been having visions of a bicycle in a painting so I thought I would try painting the image.  The challenge to me would be to come up with more compositions of this subject.

Now we are five 8"x 8" oil

A couple of the sunflowers lost too many petals so now there is five.   When they are in shadow they look black.   I love the shadow they make.

I see shadows 6"x6" oil

You guessed it.   This is not a painting of silverware... thank goodness!   I believe my fear of painting silverware is over, time to move on... to glasses!   At least for a while.  I have been thinking about eye glasses since last August.   I wanted some round tortoise shell frames and I have looked at many and have not found the right ones.   Going through my stash of old glasses I realized that almost all of my glasses are round but out of many different materials.    My favorite parts of this painting are the shadows.

Forks spoons and shadows 6"x6" oil

Sold
I don't like painting spoons and forks so I decided to challenge myself today and paint a whole gaggle of them.  I started differently than I usually do.   I usually use my paint brush to make a few guiding marks but this time because I was trying so hard to be in control (I know I need to let this go but sometimes the urge is too strong) I sketched it on the canvas with a pencil.   I also used a flat 1/2" synthetic brush to block in because it gave me a more precise edge.   My favorite part or parts of the painting are the shadows.
