One on pointe 8"x8" oil

There are several things I love about this one: the large shadow in the background, the contrast of the cool shadow and warm shoe color, and the way the ribbon disappears in the shadow.  Those three things excited me and was the driving force behind it all.

What can I say... more ballet slippers.    I did light it so that the shadows in the background and off the ledge were cool in color.

Ballet ribbons 8"x8" oil

The ribbons steal the show in this painting.  I was happily painting along and all of a sudden I realized that I should stop... it was done!
