Can't you hear them all twittering and squealing around the hem of my skirt. I'm surrounded!

I could not resist putting these red things together. The size difference is fun.

Today I attended a fabulous demonstration by Debbie Shannon on marbleizing paper at the Kentucky Art and Craft. It was like magic! Of course I forgot my camera but I photographed some of her paper I bought. See the pictures below. It is so amazing to see how she creates this beautiful paper. She has only been working on it for 10 years! Doesn't it look like fabric!

The last picture was a double marbling.

Fascinating!

Get the picture? 6"x6" oil on panel

The title of this painting is a line in the song "Gonna wash that man right out of my hair" from South Pacific. As a child I would say words over and over (not in front of others) until the word was reduced to just a sound, a resonate sound and then the word made no sense. The word picture is a real good word to do that with. After a while it will have no meaning. Ok, you probably did not need to know this. File it under useless information.

These last two paintings of scissors I wanted to paint with a minimal amount of color. Sort of like a warm 4-color black and white print. The look of black, white, grey with a slight amount of color hinted at. In this one the shadows have a slight bit of cerulean blue and the background a bit of ochre.

Why are scissors referred to as pairs? Because of the two holes? The two halves (which would make one whole)? The title "Three pair" I thought was odd enough so maybe it works. I guess it is actually a trio of pairs. Not to be confused with pears.

Well I couldn't resist this scenario of objects. However looking at this painting now the rock looks soft. The rock I used looks like it is a rough piece of granite because it is pink with some grey veining, a very pretty rock but I guess I did not portray it very well.

Actually these might be embroidery scissors but aren't they cute here! I am currently listen to an audio book titled "Mozart's Sister" written in novel form. It is interesting to be immersed in that time period and from the viewpoint of a child, well I am still at the beginning of the book. All the talk about gowns and embellishment and here is a painting of thread! Isn't that fascinating! Well, maybe not.

The police saw these cut ups, cuttin up and making a mess of things, so they pulled them over and told them to "spread em and put your hands on the wall". They promised not to do it again so they were released but don't you know they were cuttin up again just a half and hour later. There is just no changing some people and why would you want to!

This pair of scissors were our kitchen scissors and we referred to them as the red handled scissors. Now they are so worn that there is hardly any red left. I had them sharpened last year and now they cut as good as new.

Well, I ate all the cherries so I was forced to start a new series I'm sure you all are glad to hear. I was hearing statements from people like, "What's with all the cherries?" and "Enough of the cherries!" I love scissors and have many different types so let me see what I can come up with. You know I do series because I heard that is what they teach in art school. As some of you know, I never had the chance go to college so I am pretty much self taught with a few classes here and there from those I admire. Enough of that, moving forward to the new series.
