"Derby Day, betting on the horses". 12in x 12in oil on linen panel.

Derby Day, May 1 is when this was painted and used a racing form from the newspaper here in Louisville KY.    This is a larger painting 12" square, painted on a Centurion Linen Panel.   Lots of controversy over the winner.

"Woodford" (#24) 6in x 6in oil

My Tuesday Painting Class asked me to demo a painting using a palette knife.   So I decided to set up an object, I would demo for10-15 minutes at a time and they would then do the same process from their viewpoint of the object.   Everyone painted a Woodford bourbon.

"Woodford #23" 8in x 8in oil

I know it has been a while since you have heard from me.   I have been busy working on larger pieces to put in Pyro Gallery.  I did manage to squeeze this small one in.   It is an 8"square, just a little larger than my usual 6" square.

Thank you for following my art.

"Woodford in the light" 6in x 6in oil

I don't know how popular Woodford Reserve is in the rest of the country but it is very popular here in Kentucky.    I am painting some bourbons in preparation for the St James Art fair here in Louisville.

" A shot of Woodford" 8" x 8" oil

When thinking about doing a painting like this I felt I needed to work just a little bigger on an 8x8 inch panel.  I like the abstract quality of this.

"Woodford and a smoke" 8" x 8" oil

I know there are a lot of bourbon fans out there who like to smoke cigars.   The hardest thing is getting it lit!   My studio fills up with smoke which gives it a different air, no pun intended, just like there have been a half dozen men around.

"Woodford neat" 8" x 8" oil

Woodford Reserve seems to be a popular bourbon.   The color of bourbon is fun to capture.   When it is in the bottle it is dark and light with specks of red but when a small amount is put into a glass it has more yellow and not the dark red depth.

Woodford Reserve neat 6"x6" oil

If you get on Woodford Reserve's website you will read about how this bourbon is hand crafted in small batches and the five sources of flavor that gives it its distinct taste... and I think it taste pretty good too!

Woodford Reserve Bourbon 6"x8" oil

Sold
The very popular Woodford Reserve is twice-barreled which creates a rich, colorful flavor.  Uniquely matured in separate, charred oak barrels, the second barrel deeply toasted before a light charring, extracts additional amounts of soft, sweet oak character.  Click here for more information on Woodford Reserve.

Bourbonball 6"x6" oil

Sold
In the book "The Kentucky Bourbon Cocktail Book" by Joy Perrine and Susan Reigler there is a wonderful award winning BOURBONBALL reciepe (Tuaca Cocktail Contest, 2001, First Place).  This drink is the signature drink for Jack's Lounge here in Louisville KY.   1 part Woodford Reserve, 1 part Tuaca, 1 part dark creme de cacao.   Combine, shake over ice, and strain into a chilled martini glass.  Garnish with a strawberry on the rim.   Well, don't you know this drink evaporated as soon as the painting was done.   This is definitely going to be in my drink collection!

Woodford Reserve II, 6"x6" oil

Sold
A strange thing happened after I painted the first Woodford Reserve painting,  the bourbon in the glass evaporated!   I had to be quick to put the stopper back on the bottle before the same thing happened to the bourbon in there.  Woodford Reserve is an award winning bourbon made by Brown Forman which was founded in 1870 by George Garvin Brown right here in Louisville Ky.
