"Lavaski, three quarter" 30in x 20in charcoal

I used mostly a chunky vine charcoal on this drawing, refining with a hard charcoal pencil.   He is such a great model!

"Lavaski, in charcoal" 26" x 20" charcoal

Thought I would do a charcoal instead of a painting on last Friday.  Used a large vine charcoal about the size of my thumb and broke it in half.   The paper is arches.

Caldwell portrait, 16" X 20" charcoal

This is the original charcoal drawing of the commission portrait.     I then had an old fashion black and white photo taken and hand tinted it in oils, Marshall oils especially made for photographs.   Below is the hand tinted version.   It was so nice to do a charcoal drawing.  Felt like old times.   Drawing is my first love.
