Rick, charcoal 9'x12"

We had this tall young man today, he is my cousin's son so we figured he is my second cousin or was it cousin once removed?? Anyway he used to own my dog Whirly Girl so we will just call him Whirly Girl's dad. I took WG with me today and she was so excited to see him and she proceeded to get filthy because the floor where we have our group is an art floor and all of you know what that means! Needless to say she is getting a bath as soon as I am done here. (SHHH, don't tell her she hates it.) Oh Whirly Girl.... want to do something fun!

Yesterday I gave a talk about my career in front of around 40 people who attended "Food for Thought", the luncheon held every second Tuesday of the month at LVAA, Louisville Visual Art Association. The audience was great and they laughed at all the right moments. Thank you all for attending.

This painting was produced because of a daily challenge by carol marine. The challenge was to paint each quarter of the canvas in 10 minutes using the same object, thus taking 40 minutes for the whole thing. Hopefully getting better each time. It was fun!

I have been feeling that it is time to move on from the marble series. I got these cherries last Saturday at the Grocery and the bag says they are from Chile. I have eaten some of them and they are pretty tasteless so I plan on using them for painting.

Stranger in our midst 6"x6" oil on gessobord

After wondering around for a couple of days Mr Blue ended up back in Polka Dot Valley and reunited with some of his buddies. They were all gathered around this odd looking fellow, this stranger in their midst. He seemed friendly enough and he sort of looked like them but he did not glow in the middle and had this strange hairdo. He had this one big dread lock coming out of his head! They were envious.

Mr Blue was blue indeed! He was wandering around the Papier Mountains close to hypothermia and singing Me and My Shadow. But the sun shining on the snow capped mountains was indeed beautiful.

After wandering for a day Mr Blue found himself surrounded by desert flowers soaking up the hot sun. As he stood amidst all this beauty he scratched his head and wondered where everybody else had ended up. Do you see him scratching his head? Another name for this one could be "In the hot seat".

Mr. Blue and his troop took a hike with their guru Bulb through the fabric foot hills. As the sun set and after they set up camp they decided they were exhausted so did not make a campfire and Smoky the Bear was pleased with that decision.

They were scratching their bald heads and wondering why TwoTone was singled out. Had he done something wrong? Was he better than they were? Smarter? more handsome? More gifted? When they found out why he was singled out they were elated, here was someone with the answer, someone who knew why they were all bald! It was evolution, they were bald so they could roll! The answer was so simple why hadn't they thought of it before.

This is post #500 ! I can't believe I have made it this far, Yea!

During the evening hours when the marbles were rolling about patrolling the area they came across this dead body. The head marble, Mr Blue, turned on the flashlight so they could look closer to try and detect the cause of death. Upon close examination they decided that the bug had just lived out his life to the fullest.

All the followers were oohing and ahhing because they looked up to the enlightened one. She could be so illuminating at times that her presence out shined everything else and when she was not around the world was dark and dreary. Besides she had so many good ideas! They could see that she had something extra that they did not possess, filament plus a screwy neck.

The shadows of the marbles lead to the light source. This is something that I look for when painting the marbles. So the shadow of the marble at the top will be on a different slant than the marble on the bottom far left.

Avoiding red as a background has been a practice of mine, but I decided to throw that concept out of the window and use this red background... and I like it! "Orchid surprise" 6"x6" oil on Ampersand gessobord

When I looked around the studio this morning for something to paint I found that the orchids I painted a few weeks ago were still alive! Hard to believe I bought them 6 weeks ago.

This is my sister's back yard in Port Aransas. It was 75° every day and this night she had the hot tub (the round thing in the background) heated up with it cascading into the pool and a fire in the pit. It was beautiful! There was steam coming off the whirlpool and pool. We took a dip later, it was fabulous! Below is my sister Cynthia and my dog Whirly Girl on the beach on Christmas Eve!! Another beautiful day! Thanks Cynthia for a wonderful time!!
