"Guarding the Jewels" 8" x 8" oil

While visiting the Tower of London last summer this guy was on guard duty outside the place where the Royal Crown Jewels are kept.   Silly me, I thought he would have an old rifle but instead he had a machine gun!    I think I was attacked by nitpickitus while painting this one.   My favorite part is the blue reflections on the window panes.

Big Ben through the trees 11" x 14" oil

Decided to play around with a different style of painting using brushwork and knife work.   Thought it would add some atmosphere.   It was overcast the day I took the picture so I thought it looked like a typical London day.  Big Ben is actually the name of the bell.

Sunny day at Shaker Village Ky 8"x10" oil

Shaker Village is an historic site here in Kentucky.   It is one of America's largest restored community which has 34 restored buildings and 3,000 acres of preserved farmland.   It also has more than 25 miles of stone walls that were made up of local limestone.  Irish imagrants started the walls and passed their craft on to black slaves who became masters at building the rock walls.   Only 5 or 10% of these 19th century dry stone walls exhist today.  Click here for more information.
