These glasses are my favorite, I think they're from 1920 or before.   The book is about Peter Paul Rubins.   The book pages are white but in the lamplight made it have a yellow cast.

Another terrific painting in this series. I love the colors in this one--the warm cream of the book pages and the amber tones in the glasses and illustrations work beautifully together.

I agree that these glasses look like they are from the 1920's. I have some old family photos with people wearing glasses like this.
