Wind Master 6"x6" oil on gessobord

Sold
This painting was done in response to Michael Naples painting challenge from the Daily Paintworks site.
The challenge was to paint the Zippo lighter that he had photographed using these three colors only, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue and titanium white.  As some of you know I have done portraits using those three colors so the process is familiar.  I chose instead to use a lighter I have which is a Wind Master using colored paper close to the colors in his photograph.  One big difference is that my lighter is not shinny but burnished and of course being a different brand the mechanics are different.   It was a fun challenge.
The printing plant where my father worked gave him the lighter when he left for the Korean War, he never smoked as far as I knew so the lighter is like new also he returned to his job when the war was over.   Worked for them until he retired.
