Stranger in our midst 6"x6" oil on gessobord

Sold
After wondering around for  a couple of days Mr Blue ended up back in Polka Dot Valley and reunited with some of his buddies.  They were all gathered around this odd looking fellow, this stranger in their midst.   He seemed friendly enough and he sort of looked like them but he did not glow in the middle and had this strange hairdo.   He had this one big dread lock coming out of his head!  They were envious.

"Me and my shadow" 6"x6" oil on gessobord

Mr Blue was blue indeed!  He was wandering around the Papier Mountains close to hypothermia and singing Me and My Shadow.  But the sun shining on the snow capped mountains was indeed beautiful.

Where am I 6"x6" 1/27/11

Sold
After wandering for a day Mr Blue found himself surrounded by desert flowers soaking up the hot sun.   As he stood amidst all this beauty he scratched his head and wondered where everybody else had ended up.   Do you see him scratching his head?   Another name for this one could be "In the hot seat".

"Taking a hike" 5"x7" oil on gessobord

Sold
Mr. Blue and his troop took a hike with their guru Bulb through the fabric foot hills.   As the sun set and after they set up camp they decided they were exhausted so did not make a campfire and Smoky the Bear was pleased with that decision.

"Singled out" 6"x6" oil on gessobord

Sold
They were scratching their bald heads and wondering why TwoTone was singled out.   Had he done something wrong?  Was he better than they were?   Smarter?  more handsome?  More gifted?  When they found out why he was singled out they were elated, here was someone with the answer, someone who knew why they were all bald!   It was evolution, they were bald so they could roll!   The answer was so simple why hadn't they thought of it before.

"Scene of the crime" 6"x6" oil on gessobord

This is post #500 !  I can't believe I have made it this far,  Yea!
During the evening hours when the marbles were rolling about patrolling the area they came across this dead body.   The head marble, Mr Blue, turned on the flashlight so they could look closer to try and detect the cause of death.   Upon close examination they decided that the bug had just lived out his life to the fullest.

"Like moths to a flame" 6"x6" oil on gessobord

These little hard heads are mesmerized by the bright light and will go where ever it goes.  When the light is turned off they wander around aimlessly not knowing which way to roll.

"Following" 5"x7" oil on gessobord

Sold
Since the Guru knows all we are following her unconditionally to a place unknown to us since we cannot think for ourselves.  But in my humble opinion she is following the dog.   Whirly Girl, do you know where she is going?

"Our Guru" 6"x6" oil on gessobord

Sold
All the followers were oohing and ahhing because they looked up to the enlightened one. She could be so illuminating at times that her presence out shined everything else and when she was not around the world was dark and dreary.   Besides she had so many good ideas!   They could see that she had something extra that they did not possess, filament plus a screwy neck.

I think the only way you can tell this is looking down from above is the angle of the magnifier.

"Carmen" 9"x12" oil on gessobord

This pose is pleasing to me because it is on a diagonal across the canvas.   I can't see how one can go wrong with black and white with a spot of red.

"Under scrutiny" 6"x6" oil on gessobord

The shadows of the marbles lead to the light source.  This is something that I look for when painting the marbles.   So the shadow of  the marble at the top will be on a different slant than the marble on the bottom far left.

"Interrogation" 5"x7" oil on gessobord

Sold
Maybe because they are round or they are made of glass or because they roll, whatever the reason I love marbles.   It feels good to be back in the studio working on paintings.   Nose to grind stone.

"Green eyed Monster" 5"x7" oil on gessobord

Sold

Avoiding red as a background has been a practice of mine, but I decided to throw that concept out of the window and use this red background... and I like it!  And I guess this is more marbles with the magnifier, I guess you could call it a  series.    I hope doing this painting today will get me back in the swing of things.  Thank you for being patient.

"Gypsy peasant" 8"x10" oil on gessobord

To purchase please contact me.  $125
Everyone seemed to like this model in this pose.   She was great in the fact that she got into the pose so easily each time.  I know the hand out front looks bigger but it was closer to me.   That is my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
